Job summary

YUNO Sexual Health provides specialist integrated sexual health services in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG). We are recruiting Band 3 Sexual Health Administrators to support clinical teams across community and central sites.

Working Hours
  • 10 hours – Mon 13:00–17:00, Wed 09:45–18:15 (Monthly clinic in South Bristol), Fri 08:45–13:00
  • 10.5 hours – Mon 13:00–17:00, Wed 13:15–17:45 (Two Common Ambition Bristol clinics a month), Fri 08:45–13:00
  • 34.5 hours – Mon 08:45–17:00, Tue 08:45–17:00, Wed 08:45–17:00, Thu 08:45–16:00, Fri 08:45–13:00
  • 22.13 hours – Mon 08:45–17:00, Tue 09:45–17:45 (Monthly Lawrence Weston clinic), Wed 08:45–12:45, Thu 08:45–13:00, Fri 08:45–13:00

The post holders will be based at Central Health Clinic and at community clinics in Bristol.

Two clinics work with African and Caribbean heritage communities within Bristol to reduce HIV diagnosis and stigma and improve sexual health.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist other departments, developing positive and co‑operative working relationships.
  • Respond calmly to upset, potentially angry members of the public in a professional manner, understanding role limitations and when to seek support.
  • Provide polite, courteous and responsive customer service, recognising the link between professionalism and the department’s image.
  • Answer telephone, make appointments, handle enquiries relevant to the service and take accurate messages, record details and pass on to the appropriate team/individual in a timely manner.
  • Provide a calm and friendly welcome to visitors, patients, staff and service users, using a caring and professional approach.
  • Use electronic systems to book appointments and complete associated processes.
  • Process and update all relevant documentation using computerised systems, providing records and information as requested.
  • Photocopy, file, scan, and keep records, plus other general office duties as required.
Person Specification Knowledge and Experience – Essential
  • Previous receptionist experience in a healthcare or public setting.
  • Clerical/administration experience including filing and reception.
  • Experience dealing with the public, both on the telephone and in person.
Desirable
  • Previous NHS experience.
Skills and Abilities

– Essential
  • Empathetic, professional and non‑judgemental when dealing with people, on the telephone and face‑to‑face.
  • Flexible approach to duties.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adapt to change and motivate others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to respond to patient queries and, when necessary, escalates to the multi‑disciplinary team.
Qualifications and Training – Essential
  • Education to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths.
  • Business and Administration Level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience.
Desirable
  • Recognised word‑processing/typing qualification to RSA II, NVQ II Level or demonstrable experience at this level.
