Position: Active Travel and Engagement Officer

Part‑time Engagement and Active Travel Officer (Fixed Term)

Part‑time, 3 days a week (22.5 hours) with a fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2027. Hybrid working – based at 100 Temple Street, Bristol with the option to from home where appropriate.

Role Overview

The Engagement and Active Travel Team is committed to increasing active and sustainable modes of transport across Bristol. This role is predominantly administration‑based, supporting the delivery of active travel programmes to the public and to schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Update and maintain spreadsheets, record information and produce regular reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Create communications materials, check that tasks have been completed and keep the team informed of progress.
  • Engage with the public at in‑person events and deliver a variety of active travel themed sessions and assemblies in educational settings across the city.
  • Collaborate closely with School Active Travel Officers and Travel Plan Officers to deliver shared outcomes.
Qualifications & Conditions
  • Enhanced DBS check – subject to check before appointment.
  • Strong organisational and computer skills (Microsoft Office, spreadsheet management).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for sustainable and active modes of transport and the ability to work with adults and children.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a hybrid team.
