Senior Cost Accountant

KLR Executive Search Group is proud to partner with a local manufacturing client to recruit their next Senior Cost Accountant. Our start-up client is developing tactical assets used across defense and other marine applications. Their work focuses on creating platforms that can operate in challenging environments with limited navigation or communication signals.

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this position offers the chance to design and implement cost accounting processes that support cutting‑edge engineering and manufacturing, while directly influencing cost structures, improving operational efficiency, and contributing to strategic decisions that will define the companies growth in the years ahead.

• Develop and maintain scalable cost structures and standard cost models across production and R&D programs.
• Monitor actual vs. standard costs, perform variance analysis, and partner with cross‑functional teams to drive efficiency improvements.
• Support pricing, proposals, and cost estimates while ensuring accurate financial reporting, inventory valuation, and month‑end close activities.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls and government cost regulations, support audit readiness, and help implement scalable financial and ERP processes.
• Partner with operations and engineering to develop actionable efficiency plans and cost‑driving recommendations.
• Complete journal entries, monthly reporting, and assist with financial closing procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;
  Master’s/MBA preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting, FP&A, or financial management; preferably in manufacturing, defense, or engineering sectors.
