DATTCO is searching for a School Bus Manager to lead a team of school bus drivers in Bristol, Connecticut.
Established in 1924, DATTCO is a third-generation, family-owned business. DATTCO began providing school bus transportation in 1949 and currently services 30 school districts and Regional Education Service Centers throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island, transporting 140,000 students annually.
The School Bus Manager is a key management position in the company and is responsible for leading a team of employees to provide safe, superior customer service while successfully managing a profitable business.

- Plan, direct and coordinator the activities of a school bus terminal.
- Process and maintain payroll records.
- Update routes using the Trapeze software or other software as required.
- Hire new employees including interviewing and selection for training program.
- Review driver bids for routes and charters to determine assignments for driving personnel.
- Responsible for monthly billing
- Monitor and control labor and other expenses.
- Coordinate the checking of dispatch sheets with driver’s daily time.
- Prepare budget for the terminal.
- Coordination of drivers, buses, safety and maintenance.
- Process school department, parent and student complaints and initiate corrective actions.
- Handle any conflicts which may arise and provide the necessary progressive disciplinary action.
- Effectively answer routine phone calls, mail and fax inquires.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with DATTCO’s policies and procedures, and all applicable laws.
- Ensure all drivers follow all state and federal regulations.
- Quote and book charters.
- Responsible for all monies due into the terminal including petty cash.
- 3 plus years supervisory experience, transportation experience preferred.
- Must be able to create a teamwork environment.
- Excellent problem‑solving techniques in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management and school department personnel.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Windows.
- Some college courses or relevant industry experience.
