Summary

Takes delivery incoming material, store material in racks or Kardex, organize material for delivery, and keeps records regarding these transactions.

Essential Functions

• Receive and unpack materials and supplies.
• Rustproof, package and label all parts going into stock.
• Verify piece count and store all incoming stock items.
• Maintain inventory of all incoming stock items.
• Conduct damage inspections of incoming material and note damages on bill of lading.
• Pull parts from stock for manufacturing personnel and/or route to proper department.
• Prepare delivery note and record all parts issued or returned by divisions per account code and job number.
• Pick customer orders and prepare for shipment.
• Fabricate wooden crates/skids for large shipments and/or machinery, cardboard boxes for smaller orders.
• Weigh completed packages.
• Prepare bills of lading, shipping authorization, sales orders, etc. for shipment
• Process small package shipping through UPS and Fed Ex modules as needed.
• Load/unload trucks.
• Operate hand trucks, cranes and forklifts.
• Work with Logistics Manager and Purchasing to resolve problems.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position is located in the Shipping department of our Florence facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklifts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

• The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness required.

Expected Hours of Work

This is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time position with standard working days/hours of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with paid overtime as necessary to complete required tasks. Actual working hours may vary.

Travel

Travel is negligible, but is primarily local and during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel is possible. Travel to Germany or other international locations, while not likely, is possible for training/conferences.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1-year experience in a shipping environment

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience with SAP a plus.
