BR+A Consulting Engineers is seeking a VDC Engineer for our Boston, MA office. The candidate will be a member of our quality control project team assisting with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC). The candidate would be strongly motivated, well organized, and show professional initiative. The applicant should be able to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team.

The ideal candidate would have the following responsibilities:

• Work with project team to coordinate all building services (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Technology, etc.) to find best routing and avoid interferences with other building systems;
• Manage and implement a VDC project setup process, facilitating BIM meetings and design quality control coordination sessions;
• Lead clash prevention analyses, generating and tracking clash reports, assisting with the communication of results with our design, quality control, and construction administration teams;
• Train our design team on BIM capabilities, including best practices and lessons learned;
• Work with our Principals to understand current processes, advise, and assist in implementing the VDC processes;
• Participate in speaking opportunities within the industry and focus groups;
• Actively participate in and lead ongoing strategic initiatives related to VDC and BIM.

Position Requirements:

• 5-7 years experience overseeing VDC and BIM implementation;
• Proficient with BIM software (Revit, Navis Works etc);
• Able to read drawings, specifications, building codes, and other technical product and material specifications;
• Excellent knowledge of VDC processes used in the industry;
• Exceptional presentation and training skills;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently;
• Willing to pursue continued education in VDC;
• Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal guidance.

Salary range for 5-7 years of experience: $90,000 - $130,000
