Under some direct supervision, the Experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, overhaul and maintenance of customer and company heavy equipment and/or components in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.”

• Prepare accurate and complete service reports and submit them on time
• Prepare inspection and appraisal reports
• Charge work to the appropriate work order segments
• Communicate with Service Writer, Shop Coordinators and Shop Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood
• Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components
• Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery
• Remove, disassemble, reassemble, and install components and parts
• Determine reusability of parts according to Caterpillar reusability guidelines
• Order replacement parts ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Service and maintain equipment sold and/or owned by the company
• Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components
• Diagnose and troubleshoot machine and engine malfunctions and failures
• Analyze customer repair and maintenance requirements
• Keep up to date with tooling, technologies and systems
• Use safe working practices and follow all company safety requirements
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Perform maintenance on new and rebuilt/repaired equipment
• Make recommendations as to repairs meeting warranty criteria
• Make parts replacement decisions to ensure optimal economic reusability
• Other duties as assigned by manager

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferred
• 3 years’ experience in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system repair
• 1+ years administrative/clerical experience
• 1+ years customer service experience

• Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands and hearing
• Squatting/Kneeling
• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.
• Heavy work that includes carrying, lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more
• Data entry, telephone, reading, writing, reasoning, organizational, communication and math skills
• Safety and product knowledge
• Basic ability to search for and enter data into a computer
• Ability to type service reports

Pay rate: $30.00 - $39.56 per hour. Pay rate is dependent upon education and experience.
