DESCRIPTION:
The heartbeat of our building! Our Attendance & Front Desk Para is often the first smile students, staff, and families see each day. This role keeps our school running smoothly by managing daily attendance, welcoming visitors, answering phones, supporting families, and ensuring clear communication between home and school. With organization, efficiency, and a calm presence, this position tracks student attendance, processes absences and early dismissals, maintains accurate records, and supports campus safety procedures.
Part problem-solver, part communicator, part master multi-tasker, this role is essential in creating a warm, organized, and student-centered front office experience.
SALARY:
Classified Grade J starting at $19.83 per hour to start, depending on recent relevant experience. 10 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday on the 9-month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Enter attendance data into the computer, run attendance reports, hand out tardy slips, and write student passes.
* Answer office phones, take messages, provide information to callers, and greet visitors.
* Contact absent students and call parents whose children are absent or have excessive absences and truancies.
* Assist the secretary with mail distribution, sorting documents, and newsletters.
* File materials and records.
* Make copies for teachers and the Principal.
* Assist secretary with medical needs of students, including first aid, administering medications, and assisting ill students.
* Assist secretary with other office tasks such as collating papers, work orders, etc.
* Perform special office projects as needed.
* Count and organize papers to be sent home with the students and post papers on bulletin boards.
* Type letters. May also translate letters, memos, and newsletters from English to Spanish. Prepare cum folders, white cards, and health cards for all students for each new school year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School diploma or equivalent required.
* Certification in CPR and First Aid required within 3 months of hire.
* Ability to fluently speak, read, write, and translate in Spanish and English required.
* Must have strong communication (verbal and written) communications skills.
* Must have a working knowledge of a variety of technology software programs to assist with school website.
* Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
* Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
EXPERIENCE:
2 years experience with basic computer skills, office skills and communication skills preferred.
