We re recruiting an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team working on technically complex, regulated products used across infrastructure and rail-related applications.
This role would suit a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer with strong Solid Works capability and experience designing products that interface with electrical systems, where standards, safety, and manufacturability matter.
The RoleYou ll be involved in the full product lifecycle, from early concept and feasibility through to production support, working closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
Mechanical and electro-mechanical design of engineered products and assemblies
Producing 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings (Solid Works)
Supporting new product introduction (NPI) from concept to production
Applying DFM/DFA and robust design principles (DFMEA, risk assessments)
Supporting manufacturing, build, and production queries
Ensuring designs meet relevant engineering standards and quality procedures
Assisting with technical investigations and customer-related issues
Occasional site visits for meetings or investigations (UK / limited international)
Background as a Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer
Strong experience using Solid Works
Good mechanical engineering fundamentals and materials knowledge
Experience designing products for manufacture and assembly
Exposure to electrically influenced products (e.g. HV/LV, rail, infrastructure, defence, industrial systems)
Understanding of engineering standards and compliance
Comfortable working across design, production, and supplier interfaces
Qualifications
HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Degree qualified engineers also encouraged to apply
Experience with low or medium voltage equipment
Rail or infrastructure project exposure
Knowledge of interlocks, enclosures, or electrically sensitive assemblies
Awareness of IEC / BS EN standards
Technically interesting, non-routine design work
