Section Engineer – HPC

Join BMD Group's Empower Advisory UK as a fully‑time Section Engineer based in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role requires a 10‑on / 4‑off shift pattern with working hours from 12:00 to 22:30. You will manage junior engineers, assist the Sub‑Agent in construction operations, and demonstrate a culture of safety and quality.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Regular communication and reporting to multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and coordination of subcontractors.
  • Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to carry out activities to the required standards, programme and budget.
  • Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, material procurement, resource and cost plans.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub‑Agent.
  • Conduct site evaluations, develop Health & Safety and Quality documentation, provide technical expertise, prepare reports and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • People management including junior engineers, site engineers, sub‑contractors and operatives.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree level, HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of site experience, including setting out, utilities and earthworks.
  • Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
  • IT skills including MS Office and AutoCAD 3D.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • BPSS level of security clearance is required.
Desirable
  • CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC certificates.
  • Experience with BIM/Digital platforms (P6, Aphex, MS Project).
  • Aware of commercial processes.
  • Leadership and organisational skills.
