Overview
We're seeking a dedicated Planned Works Supervisor to join our team and support all aspects of Highways maintenance for the Somerset Highways Term Service Contract. This collaborative role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to essential infrastructure while working with a supportive team in a positive environment.
LocationDunball Depot, Bridgwater – site-based 5 days per week
HoursPermanent full-time 40 hours per week
Salary£34,000 - £37,000 per annum + excellent benefits

What will you be responsible for?As a Planned Works Supervisor, you ll oversee projects from development through to completion, driving timely execution and maintaining high standards throughout.
Your Day To Day Will Include- Assisting the Planned Works Manager in programming, managing and delivering maintenance works while supervising resources to ensure compliance with plans and quality standards.
- Building relationships with stakeholders including clients, the public, emergency services, and supply chain partners to maintain effective communication and service delivery.
- Fostering a positive Health and Safety culture through site inductions, briefings, and toolbox talks while ensuring all team members understand and follow safety protocols.
- Proactively undertaking site inspections to monitor compliance with quality, health and safety, and environmental standards.
- Overseeing daily operations including resource allocation, vehicle maintenance coordination, and material needs assessment to meet productivity targets.
- Supporting team development through performance management, training coordination, and nurturing a collaborative working environment.
This role of Planned Works Supervisor is ideal if you have:
- Experience working within the highways industry with knowledge of network operations and project delivery.
- Strong team leadership abilities with excellent communication skills across all levels.
- SSSTS and NRSWA qualifications desirable, with a willingness to work towards them if not already held.
