Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are working on behalf of our prestigious client, established in the early 1900s and the UK’s market leader in the manufacturing of waste management vehicles. Their famous brand name appears on the front of leading waste management company cabs across the United Kingdom every day.
Job PurposeTo carry out the service and repair of HGV and RCV vehicles, including routine servicing, MOT preparation, chassis and body repairs, and fault diagnosis.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Routine maintenance and servicing.
- MOT preparation and remedial repairs as directed by the Workshop Controller and the Service Centre management team.
- Ensuring all work meets DVSA standards, including the completion of all associated paperwork.
- Promoting good housekeeping in the workshop environment and guaranteeing customer satisfaction.
Responsible for the management, compliance and upkeep of quality and environmental procedures, records, and documents relevant to the role.
HGV Technician – Bridgwater- Salary: up to £48,508.20 pa plus overtime estimated at £8,000, with an annual bonus to make a total package of £56,500.00.
- Location: Bridgwater.
- Hours: 45 hours per week, 9 hours per day between 06:00 and 18:00, flexible based on business and customer requirements.

- Time‑served experience in the maintenance and repair of HGV vehicles or similar in a workshop environment or as an on‑site engineer (E).
- Understanding of latest DVSA regulations & legislation (D).
- Understanding of workplace health & safety requirements (E).
- Electrical and hydraulic systems knowledge (D).
- Experience of both body and chassis repairs (E).
- Experience in repair of RCVs (D).
- Time‑served technician (E).
- Year 3 City & Guilds or equivalent (E).
- HGV licence (D).
- Product trainedגעז (D).
- Volvo Tech Tool trained (D).
- Allision Transmission trained (D).
- Good diagnostic skills (E).
- Basic IT skills (E).
- Basic administration skills (E).
- Ability to communicate with others effectively (E).

- Willing to work overtime at short notice (D).
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK when required (E).
- To work catch‑up weekends in line with Somerset Contract (E).
