About this role

If you’re passionate about people and want to help shape business growth, this fixed‑term maternity cover contract starting mid‑March 2026 offers a unique opportunity. As the sole onsite HR contact at Hinkley Point C (HPC), you will deliver pragmatic, commercially focused advice, empower managers, and help create a culture where people thrive. You will travel to the HPC site three days a week and to Bridgwater, Bath and Nailsea regularly.

A full BPSS Security Clearance is required.

What you’ll do
  • Help leaders lead by creating practical nudges, delivering workshops, and upskilling managers to build high‑performing teams.
  • Spot opportunities, anticipate challenges, and keep a finger on the pulse of on‑site activity.
  • Deliver credible, commercial advice by partnering with the business to provide pragmatic, legally sound guidance that drives results.
  • Provide expert HR guidance to managers on employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Design and implement HR initiatives that boost engagement, performance, and career growth, creating an exceptional employee experience.
  • Align people initiatives with business goals to ensure the right talent is in the right place at the right time.
  • Lead HR projects from pay reviews to organisational change.
  • Help deliver initiatives that enable growth and improve ways of working.
  • Champion leadership development and collaborate on programmes that build leadership capability and foster continuous learning.
  • Manage visa sponsorship processes, support policy development, and stay ahead in a fast‑moving market.
  • Use HR metrics to spot trends, solve problems, and inform decision‑making.
  • Deputise for the HRBP on her two non‑working days, acting as the first point of contact for people‑related matters and escalating as required.
What you’ll need
  • Solid experience in a generalist HR role, providing pragmatic, customer‑focused advice that delivers measurable outcomes.
  • Strong employment law knowledge, confident in applying legislation commercially to reduce risk.
  • Manager coaching skills with the ability to guide and influence managers through HR processes and policies.
  • Experience with change management, hands‑on involvement in people initiatives and organisational change.
  • Practical knowledge of working with trade unions and navigating multiple terms and conditions.
  • Familiarity with HR systems, digitally literate, and curious about how data and AI can improve HR.
  • Commercial awareness, understanding the bigger picture and how HR can drive business success.
  • Strong communication skills, a natural ability to engage, influence, and build relationships at all levels.
  • A logical, investigative approach to challenges – always looking for solutions.
  • A self‑starter attitude who thrives on autonomy, takes ownership, and gets things done.
  • A continuous learner mentality, curious, progressive, and committed to improving yourself and others.
