Highly Skilled Pipe Welder – Hinkley Point C (HPC) Project
Location: Bristol Area / Bridgwater, UK
Sector: Nuclear Power & Energy
Project: Hinkley Point C (HPC)
Contract Type: Technical Assistance / Freelancer
Project OverviewWe are looking for expert Welders to join the prestigious Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear infrastructure project. As a key member of the mechanical team for a Major Tier 1 Contractor, you will be responsible for delivering high-integrity piping systems within one of the most demanding and regulated nuclear environments in the world. Your role is critical to ensuring the plant's long-term safety and operational excellence.
TechnicalScope & Responsabilities
The project involves high-precision welding on a variety of materials and complex joints, requiring a "right first time" approach to meet stringent nuclear standards:
- Materials: Expert handling of Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, and Dissimilar Material Joints.
- Applications: Execution of welds on high-pressure piping systems and safety-critical structural components.
Compliance: Ensuring all work strictly adheres to nuclear-grade specifications and project-specific Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). - Quality Control: Achieving zero-defect results under rigorous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), including radiographic and ultrasonic examinations.
Candidates must demonstrate absolute mastery in the following welding processes as per the project requirements:
- TIG (141): Manual Tungsten Inert Gas welding, specifically for high-purity root runs.
- TIP-TIG: Proficient use of the manual TIP-TIG process to ensure superior weld quality and increased productivity.
- Manual Metal Arc (MMA - 111): For various structural and piping applications.
- Orbital TIG: Operation of mechanized orbital welding heads for consistent, high-integrity circumferential pipe welds.
- Experience: Proven track record in the Nuclear sector or high-end Oil & Gas / Thermal power projects.
- Certifications: Valid and up-to-date welding qualifications according to ISO 9606-1 and/or ASME IX.
- Safety Excellence: Strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols specific to nuclear sites.
- Site Access: Ability to obtain the necessary Security Clearance (BPSS) required for the HPC site.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the UK’s flagship nuclear project, working with advanced welding technologies (TIP-TIG, Orbital) and maintaining the highest professional standards in the industry.
