Position: Health & Safety Advisor
Freelance Health & Safety Advisor – Somerset – 12 Months - £neg

An established and reputable M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of a large-scale manufacturing facility in Somerset.

This is a site-based role, working closely with the project, construction, and supply chain teams to promote a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day health & safety support across the M&E works on site

Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with H&S legislation, company policies, and project requirements

Carry out site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations

Support the preparation, review, and implementation of RAMS and permits to work

Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, producing reports and corrective actions

Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety inductions as required

Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and client teams on all H&S matters

Promote continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture on site

Requirements

Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor on M&E or construction projects

Experience working on large, complex sites (manufacturing / industrial projects preferred)

Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and best practice

NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential)

IOSH membership or working towards (preferred)

Confident communicator with the ability to engage at all levels on site

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced site environment
