Reports to:
Engineering Lead Morson Edge are working on behalf of a major player within the Energy Sector who have a current requirement for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our client's established site-based Turnkey Team in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is a (renewable) contract position - inside IR35. The successful candidate will comprise part of a wider, multi-national Joint Design Office (JDO) team responsible for supporting Review and Acceptance of design activities of a classified plant.
This dynamic and multi-disciplinary design team undertake the important intelligent customer role on behalf of the Project. Overview Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the JDO, the post-holder will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer, contributing to the review and acceptance of engineering queries raised by the site Contractor on the Equipment scope across the Conventional Islan/Balance of Plant and Nuclear Island buildings.
The role will be focused on the Turnkey discipline dealing with various Turnkey contractors delivering in both NI and CI-BOP areas but will be interfaced with other disciplines and with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).
Key Responsibilities Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the Turnkey Contractor on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed. Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy. Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations. Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points.
Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk. Maintain a strong relationship with EPR Engineering (Responsible Designer) The Skills Typically degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Extensive experience in Equipment design, installation and/or commissioning. Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge. In-depth knowledge of the construction / installation industry. Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
