Position: Theatre Technician (Part time, 25 hours per week)

Overview

Theatre Technician (Part time, 25 hours per week) at the McMillan Theatre seeks flexible and motivated Technicians to assist with the daily operations of the theatre. You will work closely with the Theatre Manager to facilitate all stakeholders that use the theatre, including students, community groups and professional companies. You will ensure the technical demands of each user group are met and that a professional service is provided at all times.

You will also support the Music & Performing Arts curriculum teams in providing outstanding teaching, learning and assessment across all programmes.

About the Theatre

The McMillan Theatre offers a mixed programme of concerts, comedy, dance, drama, musical theatre and local amateur productions. The venue includes a 350 seat auditorium, a 120 seat studio, a Dance Studio and full cinematic, theatrical and conference facilities. We have a vibrant team of staff and volunteers who are always willing to assist.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily operations of the theatre and respond to the technical demands of user groups.
  • Provide a professional service at all times and support teaching and assessment across programmes as required by the Music & Performing Arts curriculum teams.
  • Collaborate with the Theatre Manager and other staff to ensure smooth production workflows and high-quality audience experiences.
Requirements (Qualifications and Skills)
  • Flexible and motivated Technician with strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support various stakeholders, including students and community groups.
  • Practical and efficient approach to theatre operations and technical support.
