Assistant Accountant

A growing accountancy practice has a requirement for an Assistant Accountant to join its team based in the firm’s Bridgwater office, providing services across year‑end accounts preparation, personal and corporate tax compliance, VAT returns, bookkeeping and other services to a wide range of industry clients.

Based in Bridgwater, the practice serves sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, including those with turnovers up to millions. It offers flexible hours, hybrid working, full‑ or part‑time options, and competitive salaries and benefits.

As an Assistant Accountant you will prepare year‑end accounts, tax, bookkeeping and deliver a broad range of general practice services to a diverse client base that can extend into millions of turnovers. The role offers scope for involvement in cloud‑accounting advice, increased client exposure, and collaboration with managers and partners on planning and advisory projects, providing a pathway to develop technical skills and progress your career.

You should have recent experience in the accountancy practice sector, having worked in a small, medium or large firm. Experience should include year‑end accounts, personal and corporate tax compliance, VAT, bookkeeping and other practice services. You may be pursuing or hold formal qualifications such as AAT or ACCA. Study support is available for those seeking further education.
