Lead Certified Medical Assistant

Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure practice operations run smoothly and provide excellent patient care.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers screening tools.
• Trains MA staff on monitoring equipment and upgrades.
• Consults with nurse coordinator/manager to resolve patient and physician complaints.
• Delegates responsibilities to CMAs to develop their potential and follows up on performance.
• Records medical information, conducts patient interviews, takes vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
• Takes vital signs before patient sees doctor.
• Assists physicians with clinical tasks.
• Collects and prepares laboratory samples.
• Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to fast pace environment, and professionalism.
• Maintains medical records in computer system.
• Sanitizes and reorganizes patient rooms between visits.
• Prepares examination rooms, disinfects equipment, stocks supplies.
• Provides emotional support per patient plan of care.
• Assists with referrals to specialists.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Proficient with EPIC or similar EMR.
• Coordinates scheduling of MA/CMAs for coverage.
• Able to perform blood draw, EKG as needed.
• Expert ability to work within computer systems.
• Ability to stand minimum 6 hours a day.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or relevant area.
• National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• National Certified Medical Assistant designation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and re-certification every two years.

Preferred:

• Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
• Experience with patient Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Experience with EPIC.
