Overview
Ensures the RAI is completed and electronically transmitted within federally mandated time frames. Develops a written care plan for each patient according to federal regulation. Assists leadership in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Nursing Service Department and its programs in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long‑term care facility. Carries out the policies and procedures established by the facility and participates in inspections by authorized government agencies.
Responsibilities- Assist leadership in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Nursing Service Department as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long‑term care facility.
- Participate in facility inspections made by authorized government agencies.
- In the absence of leadership, perform the duty of carrying out the policies and procedures established by this facility, and coordinate other duties as directed by NHA.
- Rotate on call with other Nurse Management level associates.
- Work closely with the Director of Nursing to assure effective utilization and review.
- Deal tactfully with residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Encourage attending physicians to record and sign physician’s orders, certification forms, DNAR form, and psychotropic drug form in a timely manner and in accordance with current regulations.
- Ensure the RAI is completed, verify that the MDS is correct before locking it, and electronically transmit within federally mandated time frames.
- Monitor the MDS and implement the CAA’s per policy and procedure.
- Ensure each portion of the assessment is signed and dated by the person completing that portion of the MDS per policy and procedure.
- Sign and date the assessment instrument to certify its completion per policy and procedure.
- Review discharge charts and ensure the nursing portions are complete.
- Accurately generate an EDS file, receives validation and confirmation and maintain records thereof.
- Participate in the development of preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each patient per policy and procedure.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi‑state Registered Nurse license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Two (2) years of long‑term care experience.
- Experience with the MDS.
