Position Overview
At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Industrial Engineering Intern to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Responsibilities
The Industrial Engineering Intern will work side-by-side with Production/Operations Management, Quality Engineering, Program Management, Contracts and Supply Chain organizations in support of their assigned responsibilities.
Assist with production technology efforts that may include:
* Identify new technologies and new core processes for manufacturing at Aurora.
* Perform Engineering duties on development programs.
Perform design and manufacturing engineering duties including:
* Layout and/or design of tooling required in support of programs.
* Develop processes for part manufacturing which meet program budget requirements.
* Creation of process documentation including, but not limited to, specification creation/revision, work instructions and training processes.
* Assist with creation of control programming required to support product builds.
* Working with production control and assisting with production efforts on the production floor.
* Assist with Program, Manufacturing and Quality Plan creation.
* Assist with development and tracking of program schedules with stakeholders.
* Manufacturing capacity analysis.
* Factory Layouts and ow optimization including recommendations for factory expansions.
* Positional tooling and machine requirements.
* Automation and robotic manufacturing applications.
* Work measurement/time standards development.
* Production performance metrics and analysis.
* Special studies and projects.
* Staffing models.
* Production & rate production readiness assessments.
* Facilities and workplace design.
* Workflow analysis and simulation.
Specific Responsibilities may include:
* Productivity planning with accompanying future strategies for improvement.
* Production readiness assessment.
* CRP (capacity Resource Planning), staffing needs.
* Develop and maintain engineered time standards.
* Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing assembly processes, labor requirements, and production standards.
* Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
* Develop & maintain plant standards.
* Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and work centers to optimize material flow, labor efficiency, safety, quality, productivity, and ergonomics.
* Recovery planning.
* Establish manpower requirements, line and sub-assembly balancing data, and expectancy time performances, (headcount) planning, and budgeting concepts.
* Plan, schedule and prioritize work to meet established deadlines.
* Determine/improve processes to meet production levels.
* Utilize Lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies in making process improvements.
* Determining facilities layout requirements.
* Preform time studies and calculate cycle times.
Minimum Requirements
* Pursuing a BS degree (or higher) in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Engineering Technology from an accredited university (also will consider a Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace Engineering degree with Industrial Engineering experience).
* Demonstrated ability to use software tools to support Industrial Engineering, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint.
* Must be a US Person.
Preferred Requirements
* Prefer experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace or composite.
* Prefer experience utilizing ERP/MRP planning systems and bill of material interrogation for process planning.

Physical Requirements
* Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
* Follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
* Work onsite in Bridgeport, WV.
