Position: RN-Nurse Coordinator-Endoscopy (Mon-Fri)

Responsibilities
  • Manages the performance of Endoscopy Department nurses and staff to facilitate clinical and service excellence.
    • Assists with the deployment of resources and orientation process for new employees.
    • Evaluates new staff performance via orientation checklists, direct observation, return demonstration, documentation review, and staff feedback, and conducts interventions as necessary to ensure compliance with clinical and operational policies.
    • Monitors the performance of the nursing team and other Endoscopy staff by direct observation, documentation reviews, clinical rounds, and patient rounds.
    • Provides ongoing positive and constructive feedback and coaching to promote performance excellence.
    • Provides ongoing clinical and operational assistance to ensure the team has the resources, tools, and information required for job performance.
  • Manages the ongoing delivery of quality patient care and facilitates patient flow to internal and external resources.
    • Receives and evaluates the Endoscopy schedule, patient status, staffing resources, and operational requirements, deploying resources accordingly.
    • Provides information and answers inquiries from nurses, physicians, and other Endoscopy team members as care plans are implemented.
    • Reassigns resources and initiates interventions as necessary to expedite care delivery.
    • Provides clinical and operational assistance to manage routine and non‑routine issues, resource deficits, physician concerns, and ancillary department concerns.
    • Handles customer concerns or complaints, following up with staff to confirm resolution.
    • Monitors and ensures completion of care for Endoscopy patients.
  • Manages and administers clinical and operational resources to facilitate patient care delivery.
    • Prepares and executes daily assignments of RN and GI Associates to meet ongoing patient and operational requirements, considering budget constraints.
    • Ensures ongoing procurement of supplies and equipment required for team performance.
    • Obtains information and continually assesses patient care needs, staffing resources, and operational status.
    • Communicates, updates, and collaborates with the team to develop and implement best practices and solutions regarding patient acuity, wait times, supply and equipment issues, ancillary department concerns, and customer service issues.
    • Designs, manages, and executes routine continuous improvement projects, including safety, best practices, information systems, customer service, supplies, equipment, staffing, and ancillary department concerns.
    • Directs and supervises ongoing JCAHO readiness preparation of staff and departmental operations.
    • Evaluates Endoscopy policy updates to facilitate patient care and operational efficiency.
    • Conducts ongoing research of best practices and regulatory requirements and implements actions accordingly.

Qualifications

Education
:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing;
Bachelors degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in Bachelors program.

Experience
:
Minimum 3‑5 years in assigned specialty services. Progressive leadership experience desirable with a proven track record in program development or participation, program implementation in areas of clinical patient care management, staff development, and specialty services materials management.

Licensure
:
Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired Registered Nurses must hold current BCLS certification or obtain it within one month of hire.

Physical Demand
:
Requires prolonged standing and walking; use of sight, hearing and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying weights.

Additional Information
:
Monday–Friday, four 9‑hour days per week. Endoscopy or procedural RN experience required.
