Responsibilities

  • 1. Manage the performance of Endoscopy Department nurses and staff to facilitate clinical and service excellence.
    • Assist with deployment of resources and orientation of new employees.
    • Evaluate new staff performance via orientation checklists, direct observation, return demonstration, documentation review, and staff feedback; conduct interventions as necessary.
    • Monitor performance of nursing team by ongoing observation, documentation reviews, clinical rounds, safety rounds, and patient rounds.
    • Provide ongoing positive and constructive feedback and coaching.
    • Provide ongoing clinical and operational assistance to ensure the team has required resources, tools, and information.
  • 2. Manage the ongoing delivery of quality patient care and facilitate patient flow to internal and external resources.
    • Receive and provide reports, evaluate Endoscopy schedule, patients' status, staffing resources, and operational requirements; deploy resources accordingly.
    • Provide information and answers to inquiries from nurses, physicians, and team members.
    • Reassign resources and initiate interventions as necessary to expedite care.
    • Provide clinical and operational assistance to manage routine and non‑routine issues and concerns.
    • Takes action to resolve customer concerns or complaints upon receipt; follow up to confirm resolution.
    • Monitor and ensure completion of care for Endoscopy patients.
  • 3. Manage and administer clinical and operational resources to facilitate delivery of patient care.
    • Prepare and execute daily assignments of RN and GI Associates to meet patient and operational requirements and budget constraints.
    • Ensure procurement of supplies and equipment needed.
    • Obtain information, continually assess patient care needs, staffing resources, and operational status.
    • Communicate, update, and collaborate with the team to develop and implement best practices and solutions.
    • Design, manage and execute routine continuous improvement projects.
    • Direct and supervise ongoing JCAHO readiness preparation.
    • Evaluate policy updates to facilitate patient care and operational efficiency.
    • Conduct ongoing research of best practices and regulatory requirements and implement action accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Education
    :
    Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing;
    Bachelors degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in Bachelors program.
  • Experience
    :
    Minimum 3-5 years experience in assigned specialty services; progressive leadership experience desirable; proven track record in program development or participation, program implementation in patient care management, staff development, and specialty services materials management.
  • Licensure
    :
    Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire.
  • Physical Demand
    :
    Requires prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying weights.
  • Additional Information
    :
    Mon‑Fri, four 9‑hour days per week. Endoscopy or procedural RN experience required.
