Environmental Services Aide

Location: St Vincents Medical Center (10427)

Shift: Part-time, 16‑hour morning shift. Required to work every other weekend and holiday.

Job Summary:

• Under direct supervision of the Housekeeping/Environmental Services manager, performs work of ordinary difficulty in housekeeping and environmental services.
• General cleaning and routine related activities in assigned areas according to department standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
• Clears, sanitises, and cleans facilities on a daily, periodic, and project basis.
• Collects, transports, and disposes of municipal, recycled, and regulated medical waste. Segregates and packages waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Transports, moves, and delivers furniture, equipment, and other items using carts, hand trucks, and dollies in a safe manner.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Must read and understand oral and written instructions and communicate effectively.
• Basic computer skills (opening/reading email, basic internet use).
• Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment (carts, burnishers, buffers, auto‑machines, vacuum cleaners, wet vacuums) as trained.
• Remain calm in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Communicate effectively and work well with patients, the public, and other health care workers.
• Exhibits initiative, flexibility, and teamwork.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.
