Job Responsibilities- Develop plans for students, manage classroom environment, provide instruction, and assess students' knowledge, needs, abilities, and progress.
- Plan and produce presentations exhibiting student work, talent, and/or athletic skills when appropriate.
- Develop and implement the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP), collaborating with school personnel to provide necessary modifications and accommodations.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of subject matter and current teaching practices.
- Apply knowledge of human growth and development to enhance learning.
- Respect and incorporate cultural diversity into teaching practices.
- Set goals, objectives, strategies, and assessments tailored to individual student differences.
- Create effective lesson plans integrating technology and instructional aids.
- Align assessments with instructional objectives and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Communicate effectively with students about their needs and progress.
- Maintain high expectations and a safe, orderly classroom environment.
- Use data proficiently to inform instruction and maintain records.
- Build rapport and foster positive reinforcement.
- Interest in vocational training and working with intellectually disabled students in a vocational setting, including taking 10-12 students out to work daily.
- Connecticut teaching certification (065) in Comprehensive Special Education PK-12; master's degree preferred.
- At least three years of successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred.
- Experience with educational technology.
- Responsibility for self-growth, professional development, and ongoing self-evaluation.
- Excellent communication and human relation skills.

This position adheres to the collective bargaining agreement between the Bridgeport Education Association and the Bridgeport Board of Education. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
