Position: Early Help Screening Officer BOROUGH COUNCIL

Overview

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Screening officer to join the Early Help screening team situated in MASH (Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub). The MASH work involves close collaboration with partner agencies such as South Wales Police and Health to support families in line with the Social Services & Well Being (Wales) Act 2014, while safeguarding our most vulnerable children.

Responsibilities

The screening officer will:

  • screen and assess referrals submitted for Early Help support; identify need and risk, determine the support required, and signpost to relevant services within Bridgend;
  • enhance the quality of referrals submitted into Early Help to ensure information enables swift and appropriate decision making;
  • be a point of contact for children, young people and families in need of support, offering advice and guidance regarding available services;
  • work with staff in Early Help and Safeguarding teams to ensure awareness and understanding of referral routes, processes and services within the borough;
  • be responsive and flexible to referrals to assist children, young people and families in accessing the right service at the right time; and undertake assessments of family need when required.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List is a requirement for this post.
  • A valid driving licence is a requirement for this post.
  • The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
  • Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
  • The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post, providing a framework for how you will undertake working hours between home and the office.
