Position: Early Help Screening Officer

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Screening officer to join the Early Help screening team situated in MASH (Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub) who is as committed as we are to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.

The MASH work is close collaboration with partner agencies such as South Wales Police and Health to support families in line with the Social Services & Well Being (Wales) Act 2014, along with safeguarding our most vulnerable children.

Responsibilities
  • Screen and assess referrals submitted for Early Help support.
  • Identify need, risk and the support required; signpost to relevant services within Bridgend.
  • Enhance the quality of referrals submitted into Early Help to enable swift and appropriate decision making.
  • Act as a point of contact for children, young people and families in need of support; offer advice and guidance regarding available services.
  • Work with staff in Early Help and Safeguarding teams to ensure awareness of referral routes, processes and services within the borough.
  • Be responsive and flexible to referrals to help children, young people and families access the right service at the right time; undertake assessments of family need when required.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Enhanced DBS with C(arg) hildren’s Barred list is a requirement for this post.
  • A valid driving licence is a requirement for this post.
  • The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
  • Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
  • The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post, providing a framework for how you will undertake working hours between home and the office.
