Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Deputy Ward Manager with a specialist interest in stroke care to join the Ward 11 Acute Stroke Unit. To support the Ward Manager in the day-to-day management of the ward and to take charge in the absence of the Ward Manager, including staffing issues, to ensure the ward runs efficiently.
Responsibilities- Support the Ward Manager in day-to-day ward management.
- Take charge of the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager, addressing staffing needs.
- Ensure the ward runs efficiently.
- Act as key worker for a group of clients, assessing, planning and implementing care, including one‑to‑one sessions with sensitive information.
- Manage all nursing resources in the absence of the Ward Manager, organising and prioritising work and authorising bank staff.
- Promote effective working relationships on the ward and within the unit through collaboration with team members.
- Demonstrate appropriate interventions, including aggression management, manual handling and medication administration.
- Provide staff support and lead personal development reviews, managerial supervision, clinical supervision and risk assessments.
As an experienced nurse, you will work clinically as a member of the nursing team, providing clinical advice, expertise and leadership to all staff and partnering with ward managers. Applicants should have sound knowledge of clinical, leadership and managerial skills, and the ability to lead as well as work within a team to supervise, nurture and develop staff. Speaking Welsh is desirable;
