Overview
Bakery/Deli Clerk role ate an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment. Support department goals and adhere to quality assurance standards while upholding the Customer 1st strategy and Kroger core values: respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others.
Responsibilities- Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get the products they want and need.
- Use all bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes using various utensils and equipment.
- Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
- Check product quality for freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
- Properly use kitchen equipment (stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.).
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads. Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with suggestions.
- Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
- Promote trust and respect among associates and create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
- Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults when applicable.
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Minimum Position Qualifications:
Customer service skills; effective communication; knowledge of basic math; ability to obtain a current food handler permit once employed. - Desired Previous Job
