Associate Fiduciary Counsel

The Associate Fiduciary Counsel for Advocacy Trust LLC ("AT") will support AT’s Chief Fiduciary Counsel by assisting with the management of legal matters impacting the trust company.

This position entails identifying and analyzing fiduciary legal issues that arise during the course of AT’s services to clients. This position will report to AT’s Chief Fiduciary Counsel and will collaborate with The Forge Companies’ General Counsel on control processes including BSA and AML compliance, regulatory relations, and cybersecurity management for AT.

This position will also provide legal support to the personal trust line of business and be the primary legal support for all LLCs/LPs, Closely Held Businesses, Life Insurance and Annuities, as well as legal support for fiduciary tax matters

• Fiduciary Counsel Support
• Perform legal reviews for all new personal trust accounts to be onboarded to AT and any needed support for SNTs and SPTs
• Provide legal support for the closing account process including NJSA preparation for approval of final accounts with a focus on personal trust accounts
• Support the Chief Fiduciary Counsel with legal issues and projects
• Assist Chief Fiduciary Counsel on litigation matters
• Provide legal support on issues that arise during the onboarding, administration, and termination of accounts with a focus on personal trust accounts
• Correspondence with Drafting Attorneys & Trust Counsel
• Work on regulatory and corporate governance matters
• Mentor and assist with the supervision of the Fiduciary Paralegal
• AT Special Assets Legal Support
• Legal support around onboarding and management of LLCs/LPs and other closely held businesses (with assistance from outside expertise)
• Conduct legal oversight of ILITs
• Provide legal support on matters related to annuities
• AT Tax Support
• Oversee and monitor preparation of fiduciary returns by outside CPA firms
• Provide legal support to tax liaison on EY relationship
• Serve as legal point of contact on all fiduciary tax matters including IRS correspondence and response to IRS notices

• Law Degree;
• Active law license in at least one state; and
