Job Summary

Job Summary And Qualifications The AVP, Ambulatory Clinical Quality Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Physician Services Clinical Quality agenda across the assigned Group. This role is accountable for the execution and performance of a comprehensive portfolio of quality, risk, and safety programs, including regulatory compliance, event and risk management, policy adherence, performance metric oversight, clinical competency, infection prevention, acquisition integration, and evaluation of clinical practices.

This position is incentive eligible.

The AVP ensures ambulatory practices deliver industry leading quality care by building strong partnerships with divisional and group operations leaders and other key business partners. The role provides direction and support to ensure high performance across practices, colleagues, and providers; promotes clinical competency; disseminates best practices across divisions and groups; and drives operational execution that supports clinical improvement and excellent patient experience.

The AVP collaborates closely with Physician Services Operations executives, the ACQ leadership team, and Clinical Services Group leadership, to define ACQ strategy and priorities, establish benchmarks based on industry standards, monitor performance outcomes, and ensure accountability for achieving the ambulatory clinical quality agenda and goals.

Leadership & Strategy
  • In partnership with Physician Services department and operations leadership, establishes performance benchmarks and goals for the ambulatory clinical quality agenda.
  • Provides strategic leadership to develop, implement, and sustain quality and regulatory standards that facilitate clinical and service excellence across the enterprise.
  • Collaborates with department, group, division, and physician leaders and Clinical Services Group (CSG) to ensure alignment with enterprise clinical quality strategy and priorities.
Quality Improvement & Performance Management
  • Continuously monitors clinical quality performance metrics, goals, and benchmarks for Group and divisions.
  • Sets accountability standards for ensuring high performance and meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Leads Division Directors of Quality and Quality Managers for assigned Group to drive consistent, measurable outcomes across all divisions utilizing the ACQ support model.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and innovation, proactively removes barriers, and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Identifies trends, facilitates responses to quality issues, and oversees incident reporting and event management processes.
  • Regularly performs data analysis and communicates trends, improvement opportunities, and best practice recommendations to leaders and key stakeholders.
Governance, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Participates in the Quality Review Committee to ensure all new clinical practices meet quality, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Provides support for Physician Advisory Councils to advance clinical practice standards and governance.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of Physician Services regulatory compliance requirements (OSHA, CLIA, Imaging, etc.), completion of training and education programs, and policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Operational Excellence & Resource Stewardship
  • Monitors division and department budgets to ensure optimized resource allocation, cost efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Drives clinical and operational execution of goals, colleague performance, and patient experience.
Team Development & Culture
  • Builds, motivates, and develops high-performing multidisciplinary teams through strong communication, coaching, and leadership.
  • Champions a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Professionalism & Decision-Making
  • Maintains strict confidentiality related to patient, colleague, and provider information at all times.
  • Makes informed, ethical decisions that prioritize the safety and well-being of patients, colleagues, providers, and the broader organization.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
  • Master’s degree required; preferably in nursing, public health, or MBA
Experience
  • 7-10 years relevant experience required with 3-5 years in a leadership role within a large matrixed healthcare environment
  • Work experience demonstrating an extensive understanding of healthcare quality issues and associated governing laws and regulations.
  • Work experience in leading significant clinical practice quality, performance improvement, and change management initiatives with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and staff
Certification / Licensure
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • CPHQ or CPPS preferred
