Our refineries are located in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana with a combined crude capacity of 302,000 barrels per day. Our logistics business owns and operates 720 miles of crude and product pipelines, a 600-mile crude oil gathering system, and storage tanks and terminals.

The Senior Legal Counsel provides broad-based legal support to the company’s business and operations, serving as a trusted advisor to management on commercial, corporate, operational, and compliance matters. This role is designed for an experienced corporate attorney who can deliver practical, business-focused legal advice in a complex, asset-intensive, and regulated operating environment.
Education And Experience- Bachelor’s Degree (required)
- Doctorate Degree (required)
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in related field (required)
- Strong experience in commercial contracts and general corporate law (required)
- Licensing to practice law in at least one state (required)
- Experience in energy, refining, manufacturing, or other asset-intensive industries (preferred)
- Prior in-house experience supporting operations or supply chain organizations (preferred)
- Familiarity with risk management, insurance, and claims (preferred)
- Experience working closely with senior management and operations leaders (preferred)
Key Responsibilities
- General corporate & business legal support
- Serve as primary legal advisor for assigned business units or functions
- Provide day-to-day legal advice on a wide range of corporate and operational matters
- Identify legal risks early and provide practical, solution-oriented guidance
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad portfolio of agreements, including:
- Supply, sales, and offtake agreements
- Transportation, logistics, and storage contracts
- Services, maintenance, turnaround, and construction agreements
- Master services agreements and procurement contracts
- Advise business teams on contract structure, liability allocation, indemnities, insurance, and remedies
- Partner with supply chain and operations to improve contract discipline and execution
- Support corporate governance activities, including subsidiary management and internal approvals
- Assist with development and maintenance of company policies and procedures
- Advise on conflicts of interest, ethics issues, and internal controls
- Support board, committee, and management reporting as needed
- Provide legal support for enterprise risk management initiatives
- Assist with internal investigations, audits, and compliance reviews
- Advise on dispute prevention, claims management, and early-stage disputes
- Manage and coordinate outside counsel, including scope, cost, and strategy
- Advise HR and management on employment-related issues, including:
- Employee relations matters
- Disciplinary actions and terminations
- Workplace policies and investigations
- Oversee litigation, arbitration, and administrative matters
- Develop strategy with outside counsel and internal stakeholders
- Manage discovery, settlement discussions, and budget oversight
- Support claims resolution to minimize operational and financial impact
- Act as a collaborative partner to commercial, operations, finance, and HR teams
- Translate legal requirements into clear, actionable business guidance
