Job Title:
Respite Care Provider/Personal Assistant for Autistic Adult
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Respite Care Provider/Personal Assistant to support an 22‑year‑old autistic adult that is non‑verbal in managing daily tasks and activities. This role involves providing personalized care and assistance, while ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with neurodiverse individuals and possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct support and assistance with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household tasks.
- Assist with planning and participating in recreational and social activities to promote engagement and personal growth.
- Implement individualized care plans and strategies to address specific needs and goals.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of the individual at all times.
- Maintain open communication with the individual, family members, and other care team members to ensure cohesive support.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Document and report any significant changes in behavior or health status.
- Previous experience in respite care, personal assistance, or a related field is preferred.
- Understanding of autism and experience working with autistic individuals is highly beneficial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required depending on location.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with Self‑Determination Program (SDP) and FMS Agency.
- Flexible hours with potential for evening and weekend shifts.
- Work may include occasional travel for activities and appointments.
