Overview
The City of Brentwood is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and collaborative professional to serve as its next Engineering Manager
. Reporting to the Director of Engineering/City Engineer, this role provides leadership and oversight for all activities and operations within the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
The Engineering Manager will supervise and support a team of professional and technical civil engineering staff involved in the planning, design, inspection, and construction of streets, City facilities, landscaping, lighting, and utility projects. This position manages all phases of the CIP process, including participation in stakeholder meetings, budgeting, environmental review, design, contract administration, construction, inspection, and final project acceptance.

Education and ExperienceAny combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in civil engineering or administering and managing engineering or public works programs; including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Depending on assignment, possession of a valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record must be maintained throughout employment. Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California and registration must be maintained throughout employment.
