Overview

Job Title: Bid Writer
Location: South East Flexible / Hybrid Working Available
Salary: Competitive

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Bid Writer to join a forward-thinking construction and built environment organisation. This role will focus on developing compelling, compliant, and technically accurate bids, ensuring submissions meet client expectations and enhance the company’s competitive positioning.

Responsibilities
  • Bid Strategy Development:
    Collaborate with senior management and project/operations teams to define winning bid strategies.
  • Ensure bid proposals align with client requirements, project scope, and competitive positioning.
  • Technical Proposal Writing:
    Conduct project and client research to inform bid content. Develop clear, persuasive, and technically accurate bid responses, including CVs, organograms, method statements, risk assessments, and project timelines.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
    Ensure all submissions comply with legal, regulatory, and health & safety requirements relevant to construction. Keep up-to-date with construction procurement frameworks and public sector requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Support the bid and operations teams by liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to gather input and validate content. Coordinate internal reviews and approvals to meet submission deadlines.
  • Bid Review & Continuous Improvement:
    Conduct post-bid reviews to analyse outcomes and identify areas for improvement. Maintain a repository of successful bids, templates, and lessons learned for future use. Identify unique selling points (USPs) from completed projects for future bids.
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in bid writing within construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement or social housing bids is desirable.
