General Engineer Security Clearance

Position: GENERAL ENGINEER with Security Clearance
Duties
* Performs planning and design work for substantial multi-phase new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of engineering.
* Manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of general engineering and knowledge of architecture to ensure overall compliance with contracted specifications, schedules, etc.
* Plans, programs, budgets, and executes required projects in support of assigned programs; performs work in facilities operations and maintenance (O&M) functions; provides consulting services and project coordination.
* Collects data and evaluates factors which affect the application of concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to observe, examine, measure, analyze, map, and describe physical and technical features and phenomena.
* Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft.
* The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
* May act as project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required.
* May be required to serve on A and E selection boards.
* The employee must meet, or be capable of meeting, Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position; the APDP level required specifically for this position will be identified locally.
* Employee is expected to meet Continuing Acquisition Education requirements.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, General Engineering Series 0801. BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Degree:
Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships);

(c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
