Primary PurposeUnder the direction of the campus principal, the Instructional Coach will support and assist classroom teachers in implementing the district curriculum. The Instructional coach will assist with the implementation of best practices, reflective sessions following observations of teachers, and the organization and delivery of professional development activities. Along with campus principal, the Instructional Coach will analyze student data and create and institute an academic achievement plan for the campus.
The Instructional Coach will lead cluster groups and provide demonstration lessons, coaching and team teaching to career teachers. Instructional Coaches will help develop quality teachers by demonstrating that only a quality teacher, more than any other factor, enables students to overcome obstacles and erase any achievement gap. Instructional Coaches may also partner with the administrations and/or teachers for effective parent communication.
(Experience/Education/Certification)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, master's preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
- At least five years of successful teaching as measured by performance evaluations.
- Demonstrated expertise in content, curriculum development, student learning, data analysis, mentoring, and professional development as demonstrated by an advanced degree, advanced training, use of technology for managing student information, and student accountability.
- Knowledge of state content standards use and application.
- Knowledge of effective instructional practices in content areas and assessments.
- Instructional expertise demonstrated through model teaching, team teaching, and/or student achievement gains.
- Ability to conduct classroom demonstrations and external observations.
- Ability to instruct and communicate (both verbally and in writing) effectively.
- Ability to successfully interact with students, professional employees, parents, and district patrons.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
- Provide staff development and coaching assistance to prepare teachers for the rigor and pace of the curriculum.
- Assist teachers with the development of instructional practices that produce proficient learners.
- Provide formal and informal staff development related to both research and practices for classroom teachers and other appropriate staff members.
- Provide instructional interventions with proven results, and facilitate teacher proficiency with these new strategies through classroom-based follow-up.

- Analyze student data to identify student learning goals; develop a school academic achievement plan; monitor and analyze the district's assessment plan, assess teacher evaluation results; and maintain inter-rater reliability.
