Student Worker – Library (Spring 2026)
The Blinn College District is searching for a Student Worker – Library (Spring 2026) at our Brenham Campus.
Job SummaryTo perform daily maintenance and operating functions in an academic library.
Principal Accountabilities- Be willing to shelve books the entire time you are scheduled to work and any other duties assigned.
- Clean tables and computers according to current protocol.
- Read shelves (checking to see that books are in correct Dewey Decimal order and are arranged neatly on the shelves).
- Floor duty when scheduled (shelving or relocating library material); take book trucks to the to‑be‑shelved areas; take count of library patrons hourly; and assist students with machines and finding material.
- Search lists of items to fill material requests.
- Shift ranges of books when instructed to do so.
- Assist with inventory of library material.
- Some desk duty, checking in and out of materials.
- Deliver and pick up items around campus as necessary.
- Make copies and prepare customized packets when assigned.
- Assist with event set‑up and clean‑up.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
- Ability to operate computers.
- Must be federal work study eligible.
- Must be at least a half‑time student (minimum six credit hours) at Blinn College. This includes all campuses and internet courses.
- Be able to shelve books on the highest bookshelves.
- Be able to stand on stool, pick up and carry weights up to 20 pounds, etc.
- Must be able to work one evening per week until 9:30 pm and one a weekend shift per month.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships, and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of how the Dewey Decimal System and alphabetizing works.
- Previous library experience.
Library staff will review applications. You will be contacted if you are selected for an interview.
- 1. Take an in‑person filing test (10‑20 minutes).
- 2. Bring a copy of your class schedule for the semester you want to work.
- 3. Provide two people for library staff to contact as references, like former or current employers or teachers, not family or friends.
Maximum of 19 hours per week
