The On Call Kitchen Substitute position is perfect for someone who is passionate about community; ensuring seniors and young children receive their meals daily at home and in classrooms. This position provides a flexible schedule, is great for early morning workers, and is an introduction to commercial food services.

POSITION SUMMARY
KCR's kitchen staff prepares meals for Head Start, Meals on Wheels, Naval Daycares, and Senior Citizen Centers. The On-Call Kitchen Substitute is responsible for all aspects of meal service including but not limited to assisting the cooks with food preparation, food quality and quantity, plating, packaging, storage, sanitation, dishwashing, and service to a variety of customers which includes driving the food service van to deliver meals to several sites.
After a 2-week training period, the On Call Kitchen Substitute will be called on short notice to cover shifts starting as early as 4:30am and ending as late as 3:30pm Monday
- Friday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify accuracy of kitchen's pack out work daily
- Pack out cold and hot food to meal sites daily
- Deliver cold and hot food to meal sites daily
- Pick up dishes and leftovers at meal sites and return to kitchen
- Prepare frozen meals, snacks, and breakfast breakouts as needed
- Assist cooks in the kitchen as needed
- Assist with food breakouts when needed
- Assemble and deliver food items to all Head Start sites when directed
- Assist with food and supply inventories when needed
- Report to and accept assignments from Food Service manager
- Daily set up dish room and operate dishwasher scraping, cleaning, and sanitizing all dishes, silverware, pots, and pans
- Clean all incoming dirty dishes
- Arrange for the next day delivery
- Accept other job-related duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six months of food service experience required
LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS
- Food Handlers Permit
- Washington State Driver's license
- Current auto liability insurance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must have good organizational and interpersonal skills and be willing to work as part of a team
- Must have excellent personal cleanliness and hygiene
- Ability to pass Washington State Background Check
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL FUNCTIONS
- Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Simple grasping, hand manipulation required as well as reaching above and below shoulder level
- Requires accuracy, good communication, judgment, and the ability to remain calm and provide appropriate advice and information
- Must be able to exhibit regular attendance
