Position: QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING)
Summary

You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (SHIPBUILDING) in the Non-Nuclear Inspection Division, Quality Assurance Office of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

Help
  • You will review technical work documents to determine that all Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) work was authorized, planned and accurately defined.
  • You will prepare formal reports which clearly and concisely identify project results.
  • You will review completed SUBSAFE/Hull Integrity, Level I and process/fabrication documents for accuracy of data, compliance to applicable directives, and correctness of material to specifications.
  • You will serve as a quality assurance representative on process improvement and action committees, special review teams and special project teams.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting quality assurance audits or projects for Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) and other program certifications in support of the overhaul, conversion or repair of ships or submarines.

Completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.)
