We invite you to apply for the position of Washington Youth Challenge Academy (WYCA) Licensed Practical Nurse. You will work in a diverse, inclusive, team‑oriented environment while helping at‑risk youth get their lives back on track.
Under the general direction of the WYCA Registered Nurse, this position will assist with monitoring and delivering healthcare and wellness management to the at‑risk youth (student Cadets) participating in the WYCA program.
Salary Statement
The salary shown does not include eligibility for on‑site 24/7 facility 5% premium pay or a shift differential for evening shift work.
Compensation
Wage/salary will depend on qualifications or rules of promotion.
- Lift, bend, stoop and reach when required to attend to Cadets’ personal hygiene and routine physical and behavioral healthcare.
- Lift / utilize medical equipment as needed to provide care.
The WYCA was established under the authority and guidelines of the National Guard Youth Challenge Program. This is a voluntary program which includes a 22‑week residential phase followed by a 24‑month post‑residential phase. The purpose of the program is to provide a highly disciplined, safe and professional learning environment that empowers at‑risk youth to improve their educational levels and become responsible and productive citizens of the State of Washington.

- Assist the Registered Nurse with the coordination of the WYCA Health Center programs and services for a 24/7 residential program for at‑risk youth, including health center operations, sick call, coordinating Cadet medical care, security, medication administration, overall wellness, and health & hygiene education.
- Act as a secondary resource for Cadet’s physical health and wellness management strategies.
A valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
OR
Recent graduate of a formal education program who is awaiting the results of the licensing examination or applicant with license from another state. Must have a Washington State issued temporary permit. Failure to obtain a license shall result in immediate termination from the position.
AND
An Associates Degree in Nursing.
Special Requirements :Initial and continuous unblemished/unrestricted licensure in the state of Washington as an LPN. In addition, employee will be required to maintain CME credits sufficient to maintain license.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
