Overview
We are looking for a Parent Coalition Coordinator to join our team! The Parent Coalition Coordinator leads the Kitsap County Parent Coalition, serving as a key resource for families of individuals with developmental disabilities. This role organizes outreach, education, advocacy, and community events to increase awareness, access to services, and family empowerment across Kitsap County. Community and State advocacy is an important part of this role as you help people learn how to tell their stories leading to a positive impact for all.
Holly Ridge Center is a nonprofit organization offering highly specialized programs and services for children and adults with disabilities. Founded in 1963, we have continuously offered support, guidance, education and highly specialized programs and services in Kitsap and North Mason Counties. - Provide resource and system navigation to families seeking assistance with developmental disability services.
- Offer one-to-one technical assistance on DDA eligibility, IEP processes, Social Security, and other system supports.
- Organize and facilitate monthly community meetings and forums on disability-related topics.
- Maintain and grow active Coalition membership and encourage parent leadership.
- Plan and co-lead the annual DDA Resource Fair, working collaboratively with community partners.
- Provide information on legislative issues, advocacy opportunities, and how to contact elected officials (nonpartisan).
- Maintain accurate data tracking of family contacts, outreach activities, and outcomes; submit required reports to Kitsap County.
- Develop and distribute educational materials, newsletters, and updates via web and social media.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, agencies, and advocacy groups.
- Parent or family member of an individual with developmental disabilities (required)
- Resident of Kitsap County for at least 3 years (required).
- Strong knowledge of developmental disability services, systems, and community resources
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to travel to Olympia and other locations as needed.
- Experience organizing events, training sessions, and outreach campaigns preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
