Position: PARALEGAL SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will analyze and evaluate case files, correspondence, and other legal documents against case litigation worthiness standards and determine sufficiency of materials for needed actions.
* You will be responsible for the management and maintenance of case files.
* You will review cases in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and precedents.
* You will provide guidance to clients regarding court procedures.
* You will be responsible for general office management and administration, such as maintaining case files and drafting timely correspondence in the proper format.
* You will serve as the command's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Coordinator, responding to requests for records under FOIA.
* You will establish and maintain databases, including FOIA On-line, to ensure compliance with FOIA statutory time frames. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Must be a US Citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This position requires occasional travel. Qualifications GS-09 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating the following:
1) Assist in analyzing the contents of applicable case files and carry out self-developed plans to gather information and applicable law;
2) Assist in case preparation for litigation and analyzes facts and legal questions;
3) Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply various laws, court and/or administrative decisions and interpretations, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to contract law, personnel law, and litigation;
4) Receives and evaluates Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and processes the requests in accordance with law, regulations, and procedures established by DOD;
5) Verifies legal citations for correspondence and maintains the law library and files. GS-07 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating the following:
1) Assist in analyzing the contents of applicable case files;
2) Assist in case preparation for litigation and analyzes facts and legal questions;
3) Knowledge of and ability to apply various laws, court and/or administrative decisions and interpretations, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to contract law, personnel law, and litigation;
4) Receives and evaluates Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and processes the requests in accordance with law, regulations, and procedures established by DOD;
