Hiring Range: $20.07 - $24.58
General Summary of DutiesThe On-call Youth and Adolescent Intensive Services Clinicianprovidesbehavioral health support for young people involved in intensive services at Kitsap Mental Health Services including:
- 1:1 assistance to young people with mild to severe behavioral problems, including those who may be physically and verbally aggressive.
- Act as a caring adult that constantly engages with youth to establish positive, healthy relationships.
- Act appropriately in assisting youth in meeting their daily basic needs for health and safety while maintaining a therapeutic and trauma informed work environment.
- Support staff coverage across the Intensive Services programs, including the Youth Inpatient Unit (YIU) and Madrona Day Treatment.
- Provide appropriate documentation as required by KMHS policies and procedures.
- Assists in the operations of KMHS in support of its stated mission, and provide the highest level of customer service to internal and external customers.

Major Responsibilities/Tasks1.Assist other program staff in providing a positive, structured, and therapeutic milieu to meet the youth’s emotional, developmental, and educational needs.
- Facilitate approved group activities
- Prepare and serve meals
- Conduct safety checks
- Provide transportation as directed by a supervisor
- Assist in maintaining sufficient inventory of food and non-food items
- Assist in maintaining a clean, clutter free, and trauma informed work environment
2.Participate in 1:1 intervention to encourage youth’s compliance with program expectations and identify barriers to successfully completing program expectations including:
- Assist youth in dealing with conflict and expressing themselves in a safe way.
- Provide immediate, therapeutic crisis interventions as necessary.
- Record client nutritional intake, sleep and vitals
- Follow specific behavioral protocols for clients as directed by the intervention plans and/or a supervisor
- Monitor clients according to the assigned levels of observation
- Attend all mandatory trainings on time and as scheduled.
- Keep current on all required documentation (i.e., food handler’s permit, counselor licenses, etc.).
- Complete all required electronic and paper charting, documentation and data entry of clients as outlined in the appropriate KMHS guidelines, manuals, policies and procedures.
- In addition to the above, any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor that are appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.
- Return calls within 2 hours
- Option to take partial shifts
- Minimum 2 shifts per month
- May take respite or extended unpaid leave with supervisor/manager approval
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: Entry level/ minimum of 1 year(customer service, social services, or behavioral health- preferably with youth)
LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration
This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must meet agency driving requirements, including meeting the minimum age requirement of 21 years old, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
Valid Washington Food Handler card.
FBI fingerprinting(may be required)
Preferred QualificationsEDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field
EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
Experience working with Special Education.
Experience with milieu treatment.
The capacity to work well with children and families.
Performance Requirements KNOWLEDGE:- Maintain working knowledge and understanding of child development,
- Maintain a working knowledge and skill in verbal de-escalation as outlined in ProACT and other agency-mandated trainings
