Director – Finance

Overview

The Director of Finance will lead the planning, controlling, and reporting functions that support strategic growth and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include financial forecasting, budgeting, and the development of financial contingency plans. The role will ensure asset/liability management, balance sheet and liquidity strategy development, investment portfolio analysis and management, budgeting, product and responsibility center reporting, and deposit and loan pricing models.

The Director will actively participate in all functions of planning, controlling, and overseeing the credit union’s finance reporting systems to support KCU’s financial management decision‑making and contribute to improvement in Operational Excellence.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Perform financial forecasting and budgeting, including projecting the Balance Sheet and Income Statement, reporting on results, and monitoring operating metrics and trends.
  • Report actual to budget performance and prepare reporting for Management and Board of Directors review.
  • Contribute to improvements to the overall budget and forecasting process. Own components of the annual financial plan and underlying budget for the credit union.
  • Analyze costs, activities, operations, and forecasts data to determine departmental progress toward stated goals.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports to include reviews, analysis, and interpretations.
  • Establish projects and goals for each area of responsibility and track performance.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of balance sheet and liquidity strategies.
  • Prepare/contribute to asset/liability and finance committee materials.
  • Contribute to, or own, other ad hoc analysis as needed including mergers and acquisitions, etc.
  • Work closely with our external vendor to prepare the quarterly interest rate risk update used to evaluate interest rate risk exposure and alternative strategies when necessary. Provide data, update key assumptions, and contribute to the risk discussion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in ausdrę Finance, Accounting, tapping or related field; CPA or CFA preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in banking or credit union environment.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and Excel skills with experience in financial planning systems.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
