Duties
* You will provide ship design services of detailed specifications, test requirements, calculations, and software for developmental and applications designs for structural and mechanical work on various ship platforms.
* You will provide long range planning to ensure accomplishment of required branch work such as: identifying projected workload, manning needs, training required, acceptance or rejection of special projects, recruiting, and overtime.
* You will review and assume responsibility for final technical adequacy and timely completion of the work performed by project engineers.
* You will provide all necessary managerial and administrative duties associated with the operation of the branch such as: branch training procedures, accelerated training for advancement, summer hire, and apprentice training programs.
* You will serve as a consultant engineer and principal advisor to the Structural Engineering and Naval Architecture Division Manager on all cognizant matters concerned with technical features of ship design. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR . Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer planning and coordinating ship or submarine maintenance, repair, modernization, or overhaul projects to ensure technical accuracy and timely completion.
