Olympic College is recruiting an adjunct faculty member to teach Spanish Language throughout the year, primarily in‑person at the Bremerton and Shelton campuses. Part‑time faculty will teach one to two classes per quarter as enrollment demands. Faculty are expected to deliver quality instruction, prepare lessons, grade, maintain records, provide syllabi, and support student success. Candidates should be dedicated to student‑centered learning, closing achievement gaps, supporting diversity and social justice, and using data‑informed decision making.
EssentialFunctions
- Teach college‑level course(s) according to the catalog, schedule, course outlines, syllabi, and departmental guidelines.
- Teach in‑person classes on the Shelton and Bremerton campuses as needed.
- Prepare and conduct instruction, grade, and provide student feedback.
- Submit syllabi to students and the division office.
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required forms.
- Teach evening instruction if requested.
- Punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Spanish language and literature or related field.
- Near‑native fluency in Spanish.
- College teaching experience.
- Practical examination may be administered; meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee a passing or competitive score on the examination.
- Teach and inspire students with enthusiasm for courses.
- Commit to teaching students with little or no background, as well as experienced students seeking to further their career.
- Use diverse instruction methods and modes to promote success.
- Contribute to the college’s diversity efforts.
- Act as a team player.
- Foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
- Work effectively with individuals representing diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Communicate orally and in writing within the classroom and with professionals.
- Use computer information technology in service delivery.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Additional Information:
We cannot sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
Faculty must submit official transcripts to Human Resources within 30 days of employment.
Final salary contract will be based on qualifications and applicable credits.
Adjunct positions are contracted on a quarterly basis and are reviewed each quarter. Candidates remain in the pool for 12 months from application date.
Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon initial hire. Eligibility requires 50% of a full‑time load for two consecutive quarters. Benefits after eligibility may include Deferred Compensation Program, TIAA supplemental plan, sick leave, Aflac, tuition waiver, EAP, fitness center, child‑care priority, and more.
Conditions of EmploymentBackground check and a Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form are required. Applicants must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of campus.
