Dean of Manufacturing & Trades
Salary: $105,756 - $118,975. Classification:
Administrative/Exempt.
Reports to:
Vice President of Instruction.
Olympic College seeks its next Dean of Manufacturing and Trades. The successful candidate will bring a record of inclusive, equity-centered academic leadership; experience in program development, curriculum design, and assessment; and a demonstrated commitment to faculty mentorship. The position requires a regular on-campus presence across college locations.
Essential Functions- Provide strategic leadership for the M&T division aligned with college priorities.
- Effectively execute and manage OC’s federal contract for apprenticeship, helper, and evening programs with PSNS & IMF.
- Lead, coordinate, and support college wide initiatives, including strategic planning, Guided Pathways, Strategic Enrollment Management, shared governance, and accreditation.
- Supervise and support division faculty and staff, ensuring clarity, accountability, and follow-through.
- Oversee curriculum development, program offerings, and partnerships with industry and community organizations.
- Use student outcomes data, advisory committee input, and labor market analysis to inform program planning, scheduling, curriculum development, and resource allocation.
- Mentor faculty in evidence-based instructional practices, including active learning, inclusive pedagogy, effective assessment design, and retention strategies.
- Co-chair tenure committees and manage tenure and post-tenure processes in compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Develop and manage division budgets and advocate for resources that support student and employee success.
- Recruit, hire, and retain diverse and highly qualified personnel, including oversight of adjunct faculty pools.
- Ensure instructional facilities and learning environments meet program and safety requirements.
- Serve as liaison between the division and other college units.
- Encourage and support faculty's pursuit of grants and external funding.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Experience in a community college as a faculty member or administrator.
- Two years of administrative experience in higher education (e.g., Dean, Associate Dean, Director, Department Chair). Administrative leadership experience within a faculty role may be considered.
- Two years of full-time teaching experience in higher education.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance and contractor access to a secure federal facility (Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility) as a condition of employment.
- Teaching experience in a Manufacturing and Trades discipline.
- Leadership experience in accreditation, program review, and assessment.
- Experience in formally supervising faculty.
- Demonstrated expertise in budget development and management.
- Experience managing external partnerships.
- Experience working in secure, access-controlled facilities.

- Advance community college pathway strategies and student success initiatives.
- Support faculty and staff in advancing outcomes for historically underserved student populations.
- Build trust-based relationships with faculty, staff, and college leadership.

- Adhere to faculty and staff collective bargaining agreements in division operations.
- Lead effectively within a shared governance environment.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Maintain regular on-campus presence Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Must be able to gain security clearance to work in a controlled industrial area, including a federal criminal background check, proof of identity, and documentation of U.S. citizenship with either a U.S. Passport, certified U.S. birth certificate, or N550 Certificate of Naturalization.
- The employee may be required to lift and carry supplies and equipment of up to 30 pounds.
- The position requires the employee to traverse PSNS & IMF, up to a half mile in an industrial setting, to reach the job site.
Terms of Employment

- This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday.
