Overview
Olympic College is recruiting adjunct faculty to teach courses in Chemistry. Part‑time positions are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter‑by‑quarter basis. Individuals who apply are considered active for 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Essential Functions- Teach college‑level chemistry courses by the college catalog and schedule, including preparation of course outlines, syllabi, and classroom materials.
- Provide quality teaching, grading, and feedback to students.
- Deliver course syllabi to students and the division office as requested.
- Maintain accurate and complete course and student records in a professional and timely manner.
- May include evening instruction.
- Maintain clear and punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff.
- Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering from a nationally accredited institution.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Successful teaching experience in chemistry at the college level.
- Impart excitement and enthusiasm toward course content and the educational experience.
- Utilize a variety of alternative teaching methods and modalities to engage and meet the educational needs of diverse student populations, including the use of technology in instruction.
- Incorporate learning management systems such as Canvas or Web‑Enhanced to support instruction.
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups from diverse cultural, geographic, socioeconomic, racial, and other backgrounds, including military veterans.
- Demonstrate an understanding of accessibility and universal design, providing special accommodations via course materials and classroom activities as needed.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate and build rapport with colleagues, staff, and students as part of an educational team.
- Demonstrate ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
Visa sponsorship is not available; only candidates currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered. Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to Human Resources within 30 days of employment. Final salary will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits. This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Flexibility is required to meet departmental needs.
Evening, weekend, satellite campus, and off‑campus assignments, including travel to clinical sites, may be part of the instructional load.
Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon initial hire. Faculty must work 50 % of a full‑time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count toward this requirement.

Prior to hiring, a background check, including criminal record history, will be conducted. Information from the check may be considered in determining suitability. Candidates must also complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327. The employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus to meet reporting requirements. Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
