Olympic College is recruiting an adjunct faculty to join the faculty and staff team in the Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The position will be part-time Psychology faculty, teaching primarily General Psychology as well as other common-course numbered PSYC& classes. This position requires in-person instruction, specifically at at least one of our branch campuses in Shelton and/or in Poulsbo, with flexible availability (i.e., able to teach early morning or evening classes).
A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region.
- Teach in-person classes on the Shelton and/or Poulsbo campuses
- Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping
- Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested
- Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs
- Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff and administrators
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university
- Teaching experience
- Must be available to teach during the early morning and evening
- Ph.D. in Psychology
- College teaching experience
- Experience using Canvas LMS
- Deliver instructional course content with excitement and enthusiasm
- Use a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their career
- Utilize a variety of assessment activities to evaluate student learning and achievement
- Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds as well as military veterans
- Demonstrate ability to remain current in Psychology trends, especially with regard to theories and changing terminology
- Support diversity in higher education through application of culturally responsive teaching pedagogies and the use of diverse resources/voices, as well as by contributing through actions
- Foster a climate of multi-cultural understanding and appreciation
- Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, diversity, and a learning-centered climate
- Demonstrate success incorporating accessibility and special needs accommodations via course materials and classroom activities
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in the classroom and with other professionals to maintain effective and positive working relationships
- Collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students as part of an educational team
- Incorporate the use of technology in the delivery of course content and services, including use of the College-approved learning management system
- Uphold Olympic College's values and ethics necessary to maintain a positive climate

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.
Final salary contract will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits.
This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this…
